Book Chat

We skyped with Mrs B the other day via Skype. She gave us a book talk on "Dear George Clooney: Please Marry My Mother". Many students have added this book to their "to read next" list. Thanks Mrs. B!

Birdhouses

Today we built and painted birdhouses. We had to follow the directions to nail the houses together properly and then we painted them. We are making plans to hang them up later. Hopefully some little birds will find them and move in.

Johnny Appleseed

Thanks to Chris and Morley from Whitemud Watershed for our new trees. The grade 5'a received Carlos Queen apple trees and the grade 6's went home with little spruce trees. Hopefully everyone got them home and will get them planted this weekend!

Upcoming Week

On Wednesday May 28, all grade 5 students will travel by bus to Gladstone for the Hershey Track Meet. If students didn't order the hotdog lunch, they will need to bring a bag lunch. They should also bring appropriate clothing, water bottle, sunscreen and bug spray.

On Thursday May 29 around 10:30, a representative from the Whitemud Watershed will be here to present the Johnny Appleseed program. All grade 5 students will receive a larger apple tree which will need to be picked up. The grade 6's will receive a smaller tree that they can just carry home.
We will be doing a town wide clean up in the afternoon on that same day.

Chemical Testing

We were testing household chemicals in science class and I did
Sensodyne toothpaste. We had to show the effectiveness of the product so I rubbed the toothpaste on one egg and left another untreated. We put them in cups of coffee and waited 8-10 hours when I took them out there was a drastic difference. The toothpaste egg was still really white but the untreated egg looked like one of those farm eggs that are brown.
