Do fur and books and MacDonald’s go together?

Do fur and books and MacDonald’s go together?
By Ila and Rhianna
The answer is yes! We will tell you about our experience on our 5/6 field trip.
First we went to the North American Fur Auction Depot. We learned about the fur traders and different types of furs and beaver castings. Our favorite animal fur was the chinchilla.
Our favorite part came next, MACDONALDS! We finally got lunch!
Finally, we went to Chapters and we got a tour of the place. We went on a treasure hunt and got prizes. Then we shopped for books for the school and ourselves.
Then we sadly left. That’s how fur and books and MacDonald’s go together!

The Wild Robot book review

The Wild Robot is about a robot named Roz who ends up somehow on a deserted island. She always is trying to make the other animals, who at first think she is a monster, happy and learns to adapt to her surroundings. When something happens to a poor gosling, named Bright bill's family, Roz decides to adopt this orphaned gosling and teaches it to fly. This gosling does grow up and learns to migrate but finds something that changes Roz's life. Will her past come back to haunt her? Will she think the island is not her home? Are the island and the animals in danger? We dare you to read this action packed adventure about a robot who becomes wild.

Our Remembrance Day service will be held on Friday Nov. 10 at 10:40. Students are asked to dress up and bring a donation for a poppy. Parents are welcome to attend if they wish.

Math test  Friday on factors, multiples, least common multiple and greatest common factor. Any practice you can do at home with multiplication facts or skip counting will help them do well on this. We have already done a practice test and pretest to prepare for this.

Everyone has been working hard on SS project about the first aboriginal groups in Canada. It is due Friday but we won’t start presenting until Monday. There are only three days of class time left to work on it.

Student led conference notes have gone home so please return those as soon as possible. They will be held November 30 from 4:30-7:30 and December 1 from 9:00-12:00.

We are now collecting items for the Christmas shoeboxes as well as selling vegetables as a school fundraiser.

Book Tasting

We went to the library the other day to enjoy a "book tasting" party. There were 4 place settings at each table with a different book for us to try out. We discovered some books we might enjoy and some of them were even checked out that day! Thanks to Mrs. Hulley for organizing this book tasting for us. We enjoyed it!

Hot Chocolate Party

So we have reached another milestone in our reading this year. We have officially read 300 books this year and that means we celebrate! In celebration of reading 300 books we had a hot chocolate/ reading party. It's exactly what it sounds like! We had uninterrupted time to read our books while enjoying a hot chocolate and a cookie.
