Sprucedale Recyling Centre Trip
Today, we got to help out our friends at the Sprucedale Recyling Centre in Austin. We learned part of the process that leads to recyling. Some of the items that appear in the bags were very disgusting like unwashed milk containers and pop cans. We hope that after today's trip we may be able to help the people out there a little more! Just a reminder to wash out all containers to help the smell and mold that sometimes ends up in them. Just a few minutes of puting soap and water into the container can do alot for the people at Sprucedale. By Rhett

Solar system models
Our class is making a model of the solar system. The construction of the project will be done at school so we would like your child to have the materials in by Mon. Dec 3. The solar system will include the 8 planets and the sun and pluto. The planets also have to be in the correct size ratio and order.

Diversity of Living Things Wrap Up
We finished watching the movie "A Bug's Life" and identified all the Arthropods that made an appearance. Then we sorted them into the different categories of Arthropods.
We finished presenting all of the Arthropods that we created.
Tomorrow we are going to do a check up to see what we have learned in this unit. Students will be identifying vertebrates and invertebrates, the 5 kingdoms, explaining adaptations, and why we use a classification system.

Halloween
On Wednesday October 31, there will be a Halloween Parade at 1:00 in the gym for anyone that wants to participate. You may come get your child dressed during PODS at 12:40 if needed. We will not be dressing up until then. The morning will be a regular school morning.
In the afternoon we will be watching the movie “A Bug’s Life” which we will be viewing as part of our Science unit on The Diversity of Living Things. This movie is rated G. Students will be doing a viewing activity on this video for a Science mark. Students may bring a snack to watch the movie with, if they choose, but we will not be having a formal Halloween Party. Thanks!
