For all of you out there that have i-pods, i-pads etc. there are some great apps for you to download. Try downloading some math facts or math flashcards that will help you practice your mental math skills. There is one called Fast Facts, AB Math, Math Flashcards and Kakooma. There is also a Mathletics app for i-pods and i-pads. Most of these are free! If you find anymore that would useful, please let us know so we can download them on our classroom i-pad and so we can let everyone else know. We are trying to master our multiplication facts up to 9. Our goal is to answer our facts from 1-9 in three seconds or less! Please help us practice our facts and give us a little test every now and again to see how we are doing. We have mastered the 2's and are pretty close to mastering the 5's and 9's, so keep practicing!
There is also an app for spelling city and if you search for Mrs. Zander in the teacher search, you will have access to our spelling lists that you can practice anywhere!
If you find any other apps that might be useful for us we would love to know about them! We have been having difficulty finding apps that assist our Science and Social Studies programs so if you are browsing the app store and come accross something that might fit, please let us know!
Currently, in Science, we are learning about living things, their adaptations, their environment, vertebrates, invertebrates, and the five kingdoms.
In Social Studies, we are learning about Confederation, Louis Riel and the rebellions, The Canadian Pacific Railway, The North West Mounted Police and the Gold Rush. The time period for this is 1867-1914! Wow!!
