MES GREEN SPACE

Our school is planning on developing and constructing a sustainable green space. A green space is an environmentally friendly place. These are some ideas we are thinking of doing:

·        Trees

·        Rain Water Collection System

·        Natural Grasses

·        Composters

·        Bird feeders

·        Bird houses

·        Bat houses

·        Benches

·        Two yards of dirt

We are planting trees that are native to our region along with some native grasses that do not need to be cut.  We have chosen two types of trees.  We voted as a class and the Aspen and Jack Pine/Red Pine were selected.  We would like to have a composter for all the materials we are able to compost. A composter is something that breaks down food such as apple peels and banana peels and it turns into a material that is rich in nutrients.  We would like to have a few bird feeders, bird houses, and bat houses.  We want to include some benches for everyone to sit on in our green space as well. We really need some dirt for the trees we are planning to plant.  We are looking for some partners in this project to help us either financially or with the materials.
