Wedneday Feb. 6,13,20, and 27 - Stop, Drop, and Read
Friday Feb. 8 - Get "tied" up with a good book (Crazy tie day)
Mon. Feb. 11- Picture Scramble Contest
Thursday Feb. 14- Get Stuck On Reading chew on gum while you read today.
Fri. Feb. 15- "Exercise Your Brain With a Good Book" Wear your jogging suit to school.

Science

The next unit we will be studying in Science is Electricity!

We will be learning about:
- current and static electricity
- electrical circuits
- conductors and insulators
- series and parallel circuits

Winter activity day

The long awaited winter activity day is this Monday, January 28th. Students need to remember to bring appropriate winter wear to school. Students skiing or snowboarding can take a lunch or money to buy lunch. The bus leaves for Holiday Mountain at 8 am and will return to MES at approx 5pm. Students who are tubing will eat an early lunch and head to Roger's Hill at 11:30am and return in time for buses.

They had some heating issues in the school so we are unable to go to school today.

Welcome Back!

Just a couple of things to remind you of this week.
Tomorrow is day 1 and the grade 6's have band first thing in the morning.
Tuesday is pizza day for $2 a slice.
Friday will be hot dog day.

You can start bringing in your winter activity day forms anytime. They are due January 18. If students choose to go tubing it will only be for the afternoon. The morning will be a regular day. If you need a form let me know and we will resend one. Please make your cheques payable to MacGregor Elementary School.

Students had a difficult time deciding what they wanted to do for gifting this year. We were split 50/50 so we are doing both. Students who want to participate in the gift exchange are giving their name to Emily and she is organizing a secret Santa with the students who want to be involved in it. They have decided on a $10 item. Students who have opted out of the gift exchange are doing a $2 donation which we will donate to "Free the Children". They can bring their money to Riley and he will track how much we raise for this foundation. If you want more information about this program you can logon to www.freethechildren.com.
